Bump It Or Dump It

Alright folks long time, I know but you'll start hearing from me more often I promise. As a music reviewer, I'm going to start sharing the new music that will be coming out and beginning to chart and make its way onto urban radio. I'll give you my opinion on the song followed by a rating of [Strong Bump, Weak Bump, Weak Dump, or Strong Dump]

"WILD THOUGHTS" (DJ Khaled f/ Rihanna & Bryson Tiller)
Debuting #34 @ Pop formats + #37 @ Urban formats;
+ #40 @ Rhythmic/Club formats;
via We The Best/Epic [1,892 + 848 + 614 Daily US Spins].

 – Nice use of the sample, but honestly I don’t  think its fits either of the artist involved. And the contrast in styles between a toned down Rihana & Bryson Tiller doesn’t quite match in intensity of the lyrical deliveries. I’m not sure if it’ll catch on for radio, but it’ll be a good beginning of the night song in the club when the doors first open and the drinks just start to get flowing. I can’t imagine it for much more, it shouldn’t be on any R&B mixtapes or anything.  It could go either way but Weak Dump

"FEELS" (Calvin Harris f/ Pharrell, Katy Perry, & Big Sean)
Debuting #38 @ Pop formats;
via Sony Music [1,528 Daily US Spins].
– This doesn’t sound like it should be on urban radio at all, other than having Pharell and Big Sean on it, I don’t hear anything urban about it. It’s a pure pop album – Strong Dump

"THE WAY I ARE" (Bebe Rexha f/ Lil Wayne) Debuting #47 @ Pop formats;
via Warner Bros. [844 Daily US Spins].
 – I don’t see the connection for this to be on any urban playlist either. It's way too bubble gum. Strong Dump

"YOUNG DUMB & BROKE RMX" (Khalid f/ Rae Sremmurd & Lil Yachty),
Shipped to Urban formats & Rhythmic/Club formats on 6/19/17;
via Right Hand/RCA [beginning w/ 340 + 283 Daily US Spins].
 – Way too stripped down and simplified. It’s a bad attempt at a teen party record. Sounds like it would work in a movie or a television show in between scenes. But horrible for the radio, club, or get together. Stong Dump

"ME YOU" (Russ) Debuting #47 @ Rhythmic/Clubs formats;
+ Shipped to Urban formats on 6/14/17;
via Diemon/Columbia [516 Daily US Spins].
– Not a fan of the production. Decent delivery. This should work for radio, it gives the illusion of a lyrical rapper without being too much. By comparison to what’s on the radio now, I take it. Weak Bump

"I'LL FIND YOU" (Lecrae f/ Tori Kelly),
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club formats + Urban formats on 6/18/17;
via Reach/Columbia [beginning w/ 302 Daily US Spins].
– I think it misses the intended mark severely. It doesn’t inspire or entertain me, neither does it make me reflect. Weak Dump

"NO FEAR" (Dej Loaf),
Shipped to Urban formats & Rhythmic/Club formats on 6/19/17;
via Colombia [beginning w/ 273 Daily US Spins].
 - Perfect for the club, not sure it's gone play well in the urban club or radio scene, however. Doesn’t entertain or move me. Strong Dump

"4 AM" (2 Chainz f/ Travis Scott),
Shipped to Urban formats on 6/10/17;
via Def Jam [beginning w/ 120 Daily US Spins].
 - This should get some traction on urban radio. Should get some traction in the club also. I can see people riding with this one in their car. This is 2 Chainz at his best. Weak Bump!

"When WE" (Tank),
Shipped to Adult Contemp. formats + Urban formats on 6/18/17,
via Atlantic.
 -  Depending on how the clean version of this is edited, it could get some late night love traction. I'm not sure about it getting much club love despite the low key and blatant nasty vibes. I'd put it on a mixtape depending on the type of woman Weak Bump
