BUMP IT! or DUMP IT!, VOL. 63

Strong Bump – A hit. I really like it. Rewind worthy. Unquestionable Smash Hit. Extremely rewind-worthy and one of the better records out currently. Next to no flaws to pick out, something that you'll be supporting/playing daily. Something you predict will be a Top-15 Hit or higher.

Weak Bump – It’s listenable. Something you have to be in the mood to listen to. Not Bad. A Good Moderate Hit. Quality & above average; has more positives than negatives. Might need to grow on you/others, but could catch on. Not a clear smash hit, but something you'd genuinely want people to check out, so you’ll be supporting/playing it occasionally. Something you predict will be a Top-50 hit.

Weak Dump – Don’t really like it. Might like parts of it but not the whole composition. Could grow on you. Underwhelming. Sup-Par Record. Not bad, but definitely missing the mark somewhere. More negatives than positives. Listenable, as you might like some parts but not the whole composition. You don’t hate it and could understand it’s buzz, but you know you won’t be supporting/playing it much. Something you predict that won’t be on airwaves very long or have much replay value.

Strong Dump – Get rid of it. Absolutely don’t like it. Garbage. Hate It.
Complete Trash. A record you absolutely hate and has next to no positives at all. Garbage, and a waste of your time; that you’d want to warn people away from. Something that you’re sure you’ll never be supporting/playing ever; and predict that it’ll fail commercially.

Now for this week's singles.
Simple rules:
As we do every week, I'll give you the Top-9 new singles officially sent to Urban-format radio stations, that are either beginning to chart right now or expected to chart soon. In exchange, you can have & listen to them, and personally comment below, stating if you would *Bump It* or *Dump It* for each record and why... [Strong Bump, Weak Bump, Weak Dump, or Strong Dump]

"LOVE SCARS" (Trippie Redd),
Debuting #47 on Urban formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club formats 11/16/17;
via Strainge Ent/Caroline Dist.
[beginning w/ 502 + 76 Daily US Spins]. – Nah! It’s a lot of whining and off-key singing. _ Strong Dump

"PATEK WATER" (Future & Young Thug f/ Offset),
Debuting #48 on Urban formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club formats 11/20/17;
via 300/A1/Freebandz/Atlantic/Epic.
[beginning w/ 479 + 66 Daily US Spins]. – The beat is good, the flow and delivery give the illusion they’re rapping way better than they actually are. The lyrical content, originality, and creativity are missing. It’ll probably get some radio spins just based off of the people involved. I expect it to chart and be well received, but it’s basically high-end garbage. – Weak Dump

"NEW FREEZER" (Rich The Kid f/ Kendrick Lamar),
Shipped to Urban formats 11/21/17;
via QC Music/300/Interscope.
[beginning w/ 168 Daily US Spins]. – It’s extremely simple and repetitive. Even the Kendrick verse is less than stellar, but the name recognition alone may be enough star power for it to receive a few radio spins. I could see it playing in the club. It could go either way with radio, its sounds like much of what’s out so it’s mixable but the only thing that stands out is that Kendrick is on it. – Weak Bump

"LONELY TOGETHER" (Avicii f/ Rita Ora),
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club formats;
+ Pop formats 11/13/17;
via Avicii Music Inc./Universal.
[beginning w/ 167 Daily US Spins]. – Perfect for rhythmic and club formats. It’s kind of catchy and a little bit of a toe-tapper. I'd be shocked to see it crossover, it doesn’t seem to have that inescapable appeal. I can imagine it at the end of a tv show or movie. It may get to the middle of the charts – Weak Dump

"MOOD" (D.V.S.N.),
Debuting #35 on Adult Contemp/R&B formats;
via OVO/Warner Bros.
[beginning w/ 156 Daily US Spins]. – This is groovy and sexy. This will be on slow jam mixtapes for sure. Will definitely get the late night grove and quiet storm spins. Its good enough to possibly crossover and get some midday spins because it’s well done and mature. – Strong Bump

"LAST NIGHT" (Tru Life f/ Future),
Shipped to Urban formats;
+ Rhythmic/Club formats 11/14/17;
via Freebandz/Epic.
[beginning w/ 98 Daily US Spins]. – The collaboration seemed forced or for convenience. It’s a lot wrong with the song; the lack of cohesion between the artist is noticeable, it’s a style of music foreign to tru life, and I know Future is supposed to be the radio draw but he does the song a disservice with his lackluster verse. This sounds more like a mixtape song, but based on the production I could see it playing in the club. – Weak Dump

"SAY A" (A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie),
Shipped to Urban formats;
+ Rhythmic/Club formats 11/14/17;
via Highbridge/Atlantic.
[beginning w/ 64 Daily US Spins]. – It’s pretty good, the beat is radio friendly but unless he has a much cleaner version it is not gone fly. I dig the creativity and that it sounds different from anything that’s out currently. In this case sounding different actually hurts the recording, it’s not very mixable, and I’m not sure they would play this in the club. But I like it anyway, it’s just more of a mixtape song than radio single in today's market – Weak Bump

"WHAT IS THIS" (Johnny Gill),
Debuting #35 on Adult Contemp/R&B formats;
via J Skillz/Capitol/Caroline Dist.
[beginning w/ 60 Daily US Spins]. – I think it’s a bold choice to use the legendary Al Green sample, but it works well. The vocals performance is on point. I think this one will get plenty adult contemporary spins, but not a lot of spins everywhere else. I can see it getting early morning spins and definitely evening and late night spins, but I don’t think it gets the critical middle of the day spins to be able to chart high. But I like it – Strong Bump

"TEXTIN' MY EX"
(T-Pain f/ Tiffany Evans),
Shipped to Urban formats;
+ Rhythmic/Club formats 11/29/17;
via Nappy Boy/RCA. – This may catch on, I can see it getting radio play and club play. It’s singable, it has male and female parts, it’s relatable, it’s mixable with the current sound of r&b. I'm just not sure its good enough comeback single for T-Pain – Weak Bump

"BOOTY" (Blac Youngsta),
Debuting #44 on Urban formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club formats 11/09/17;
via CMG/Epic.
[beginning w/ 614 Daily US Spins] – This is horrible, its way too simple, it doesn’t even sound professional. Now it may play in the strip club, but it lacks lyrics, flow, delivery.  This is less than elementary level, it sounds like a parody made to make fun of a song. – Strong Dump

"WAKE ME UP" (Remy Ma f/ Lil Kim),
Debuting #47 on Urban formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club formats 11/11/17;
via Columbia.
[beginning w/ 536 Daily US Spins]  - It’s honestly too simple and not very lyrical. I expect better lyrics, flow and delivery from Remy and Kim. It could have been better. If this is supposed to be a diss track as reported it lacks all of the necessary ingredients of a great diss track; it's not direct, disrespectful, shocking and it doesn’t jam ( meaning you want to play it repetitively) – Weak Dump

"END GAME" (Taylor Swift f/ Future & Ed Sheeran),
Debuting #45 on Pop formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban formats 11/13/17;
via Big Machine/Universal.
[beginning w/ 491 + 99 Daily US Spins] – It’ll probably work due to the star power on the album, but it’s missing something. It’s well done, but it doesn’t seem authentic, it seems very contrived. It doesn’t impress, entertain or really bring about any emotions. – Weak Bump

"OH I" (The Game f/ Jeremih, Young Thug, & Sevyn Streeter),
Debuting #43 on Rhythmic/Club formats;
Shipped to Urban formats 11/09/17;
via Blood Money/eOne.
[beginning w/ 419 + 115 Daily US Spins] – It’s a classic beat so it has that going for it, but once you're past that part it becomes less interesting. It doesn’t grab my attention, it faded to the back ground. If I was studying or writing a paper and just wanted to hear music, this would be perfect, not good for a radio single.  Weak Dump

"WALK ON WATER" (Eminem f/ Beyonce),
Debuting #46 on Rhythmic/Club formats;
Shipped to Urban + Pop formats 11/13/17;
via Shady/Aftermath/Interscope.
[beginning w/ 309 + 211 Daily US Spins] – It might play well on the radio, just because of the people involved and their celebrity. But I don’t like it. It’s way out of Eminem's comfort zone musically. The passion is there but the flow is not tight, its too much start-stop, The collaboration doesn’t really gel. It sounds  like a long intro to an album, too long honestly.  It’s a bit of a reach, it sounds like the type of music he Em would have made fun of earlier in his career – Weak Dump

"ROLL IN PEACE" (Kodak Black f/ XXXTentacion),
Shipped to Urban formats 10/31/17;
via Dollaz N Dealz/Atlantic.
[beginning w/ 301 + 146 Daily US Spins] – Decent production but garbage attempt at lyrics. It’s a bunch of random unfocused bars, with weak delivery and horrible vocabulary. It lacks creativity or and professionalism. – Strong Dump

"PULL UP 'N WRECK"
(Big Sean f/ Metro Boomin' & 21 Savage),
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban formats 11/02/17;
via Def Jam/Republic.
[beginning w/ 185 Daily US Spins] – Not bad. An unexpected collaboration, but they work well together. One of the better verses from 21 Savage, he raised his level very well on this track. This should do well on radio, it's mixable, its current, it sounds like what’s popular on the radio but it stands out. I wouldn’t expect it to shoot to the top of the charts but to hover in the middle. Weak Bump

"HARDAWAY" (Derez De'Shon),
Shipped to Urban formats 11/07/17;
via Derez Music/Rich Gang/Cash Money.
[beginning w/ 128 Daily US Spins] – It's repetitive and simple in its theme, it could have been a little more creative. But it’s kind of catchy and singable so it may do well. It's mixable and it stands out a little so it should fit well with most current playlist. – Weak Bump

"PARADISE" (Trick Daddy f/ Trina & Mike Smiff),
Shipped to Urban formats 11/07/17;
via Dunk Ryders/Slip-n-Slide/EMI.
[beginning w/ 125 Daily US Spins] –They didn’t  do a great job of remaking this song or owning the beat, but not bad the flows and delivery all good. It’s a step outside of what’s expected from Trick and Trina, it's more laid back than what’s expected. Other than the sample it doesn’t really sound or feel like a radio single, it feels like something for a mixtape or something buried on an album – Weak Bump
