BUMP IT or DUMP IT!, VOL. 81

[Strong Bump] =Unquestionable Smash Hit.  Extremely rewind-worthy and one of the better records out currently. Next to no flaws to pick out, that you'll be supporting/playing daily.  Something you predict will be a Top-15 Hit or higher.

[Weak Bump] =A Good Moderate Hit.Quality & above average; has more positives than negatives.  Might need to grow on you/others, but could catch on.  Not a clear smash hit, but something you'd genuinely want people to check out, so you’ll be supporting/playing it occasionally.
Something you predict will be a Top-50 hit.

[Weak Dump] =Sup-Par Record.Not bad, but definitely missing the mark somewhere. More negatives than positives. Listenable, as you might like some parts but not the whole composition.  You don’t hate it, and could understand its buzz, but you know you won’t be supporting/playing it much.  Something you predict that won’t be on airwaves very long or have much replay-value.

[Strong Dump] =Complete Trash.  A record you absolutely hate, and has next to no positives at all.  Garbage, and a waste of your time; that you’d want to warn people away from.  Something that you’re sure you’ll never be supporting/playing ever; and predict that it’ll fail commercially.

Now for this Week's New Singles.
Simple rules
As we do every week, I'll give you the Top-9 new singles officially sent to Urban-format radio stations, that are either beginning to chart right now or expected to chart soon. In exchange, you can have & listen to them, and personally comment below, stating if you would *Bump It* or *Dump It* for each record and why... [Strong Bump, Weak Bump, Weak Dump, or Strong Dump]

"CHUN-LI"(Nicki Minaj),
Debuting @ #37 on Urban formats
Debuting @ #38 on Rhythmic/Club formats;
+ Shipped to Pop formats 04/15/18;
via Young Money/Cash Money/Republic.,
[beginning w/ 905 + 587 Daily US Spins].  – It’s not bad, lyrically and creatively its sounds like one of the best things she’s dropped since the beginning of her career. I’m not a fan of the beat, however. This doesn’t really sound like a radio single in today's marketplace, it sounds more like a mixtape or a good album cut. I don’t think this will get a ton of radio play, I expect it to get some and then fizzle out. It’ll be a top 40 album but we’ll see how long it sticks around for. – Weak Bump

"CALL OUT MY NAME"(The Weeknd),
Debuting @ #31 on Rhythmic/Club formats;
+ Shipped to Pop & Urban formats 04/13/18;
via Atlantic.,
[beginning w/ 855 Daily US Spins]. – It legitimately sounds like every other song he has, and honestly I don’t know the difference between most of them. Is this new or was it on the 50 shades of Grey soundtrack, because it sounds like it would have fit well. Honestly, I'm ready for something different from The Weekend.  I expect it to perform moderately well, lets say top 30 maybe it sneaks into the lower 20’s, but it doesn’t sound like a radio smash that will continuously climb upwards. – Weak Dump

"BARBIE TINGZ"(Nicki Minaj),
Debuting @ #40 on Urban formats;
Debuting @ #47 on Rhythmic/Club formats;
Shipped to Pop formats 04/15/18;
via Young Money/Cash Money/Republic.,
[beginning w/ 839 + 366 Daily US Spins]. – I like the fact that its kind of aggressive sounding. Its lightweight lyrical, but I’m not a fan of the beat or the hook. I don’t think its catchy enough to be a radio single. I can see it being a top 40, but I don’t know if it’ll hold on or climb up the charts. I expect it to have a nice little buzz and then fizzle. -  Weak Dump

"COME THROUGH AND CHILL"(Miguel f/ J. Cole),
Debuting @ #41 on Rhythmic/Club formats;
Shipped to Pop + Urban formats 04/14/18;
via ByStorm/RCA.,
[beginning w/ 471 + 399 Daily US Spins]. – It’s a pretty good song, it's almost too mellow. It lacks excitement and it’s not particularly jamming, but pretty good none the less. What it has going for it is good timing, with the J Cole album just dropping, people will clamor for anything with him on it, so I expect this to ride that wave and possibly become a top 25 album. – Weak Bump

"LOVE LIKE YOURS AND MINE"(Peabo Bryson),
Debuting @ #23 on Adult Contemp/R&B formats;
Shipped to Urban formats 04/07/18;
via Peak/Concord Music/Universal.,
[beginning w/ 371 + 126 Daily US Spins]. – Is a good song, I like it. But this type of traditional R&B has no potential to cross over to the mainstream urban radio. It’ll be stuck on urban contemporary. If it gets any plays at all it’ll be early morning drive or during quiet storm hours when radio shows tend to play a little more new stuff and stuff for more mature audiences. Older folks will love it, but it won't translate to younger audiences – Weak Bump

"COLOR BLIND"(Diplo f/ Lil Xan),
Debuting @ #46 on Rhythmic/Club;
+ Shipped to Urban formats 04/16/18;
via Mad Decent/Atlantic.,
[beginning w/ 371 + 201 Daily US Spins]. – The beat is intriguing, but the lack of a recognizable traditional song format makes it sound incomplete and like a reference track. It’ll probably still get radio play, it’ll have the potential to at least get into the upper 40’s. – Weak Dump

"POR FAVOR"(Pitbull f/ Fifth Harmony),
Debuting @ #9 on Latin-Urban formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban formats 04/06/18;
via Polo Grounds/Epic/RCA.,
[beginning w/ 168 + 67 Daily US Spins]. – I can see this playing in just about every format ( Latin, pop, rhythmic, club) except for urban. Its alright, its well produced and kind of catchy; but it doesn’t fit the urban format and I'd be shocked to see it crossover. But its catchy and it’s a slight toe tapper – Weak Bump

"SHOOT!"(BlocBoy JB),
Shipped to Urban + Rhythmic/Club formats 04/10/18;
via Block Nation/OVO/Warner Bros.,
[beginning w/ 192 + 163 Daily US Spins]. Sounds amateurish. It needs all kinds of work. – Strong Dump

"PLAYINWITME"(Kyle f/ Kehlani),
Shipped to Urban + Pop + Rhythmic/Club formats 04/06/18;
via Indie-Pop Inc./Atlantic.,
[beginning w/ 128 + 23 Daily US Spins]. – It’s an old B.o.B. type vibe. I can see this getting play, it’s kind of catchy, its simple, it's happy. Has top 20 potential. – Weak Bump

 It‘s an above average week for new singles. I’m interested in a few and I have mixed views about others, of them It's going to be interesting to see how many of these get significant radio play.
