Bump It or Dump It, Vol.61

Weak Bump – It’s listenable. Something you have to be in the mood to listen to. Not Bad. A Good Moderate Hit. Quality & above average; has more positives than negatives. Might need to grow on you/others, but could catch on. Not a clear smash hit, but something you'd genuinely want people to check out, so you’ll be supporting/playing it occasionally. Something you predict will be a Top-50 hit.

Weak Dump – Don’t really like it. Might like parts of it but not the whole composition. Could grow on you. Underwhelming. Sup-Par Record. Not bad, but definitely missing the mark somewhere. More negatives than positives. Listenable, as you might like some parts but not the whole composition. You don’t hate it and could understand it’s buzz, but you know you won’t be supporting/playing it much. Something you predict that won’t be on airwaves very long or have much replay value.

Strong Dump – Get rid of it. Absolutely don’t like it. Garbage. Hate It.
Complete Trash. A record you absolutely hate and has next to no positives at all. Garbage, and a waste of your time; that you’d want to warn people away from. Something that you’re sure you’ll never be supporting/playing ever; and predict that it’ll fail commercially.

Big Album Alert
112  released their first album in 7yrs and I must say, it’s shockingly good. It’s the best release from them since leaving Bad Boy. The vocals are on point, the production is a great mix of old school traditional r&b and current sounds. The songwriting is on point, it’s well crafted, something missing from music today.  Lastly, its executed professionally, execution is missing from today's albums. You may want to check it out it’s a standout album.

Now for this week's singles.
Simple rules:
As we do every week, I'll give you the Top-9 new singles officially sent to Urban-format radio stations, that are either beginning to chart right now or expected to chart soon. In exchange, you can have & listen to them, and personally comment below, stating if you would *Bump It* or *Dump It* for each record and why... [Strong Bump, Weak Bump, Weak Dump, or Strong Dump]

"FEELS GREAT" (Cheat Codes f/ Fetty Wap),
Debuting #41 on Pop formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban formats 10/29/17;
via Parlophone/Warner Bros.
[beginning w/ 1,002 Daily US Spins] – It’s perfect for pop. It sounds like something that’ll be in a teen comedy movie more so than a single on the radio. Unless they are going to make a video for this that sets it up, this may be a tough sell. You can’t really dance to it, it doesn’t bump and it’s not for riding; I’m not  sure where it fits in – Strong Dump

"PENTHOUSE FLOOR" (John Legend f/ Chance The Rapper),
Debuting #30 on Adult Contemp/R&B formats;
Shipped to Urban formats 10/27/17;
via GOOD Music/Columbia.
[beginning w/ 262 + 178 Daily US Spins] – It’s kind of groovy, I can definitely see adult contemporary getting behind this. I can see it getting moderate radio play, a lot of those morning show and drive to work spins, maybe some afternoon spins. But It’s a good song, and I like it – Weak Bump

"LEMON" (N.E.R.D. f/ Rihanna),
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban formats 11/02/17;
via Star Trek/Interscope.
[beginning w/ 194 + 333 Daily US Spins] – I don’t like much of anything about it. It’s intended to be a light-hearted song but it’s beneath all parties involved. It’s a failed experiment and it has a very low skill level on the production, lyrics, delivery, and hook. – Strong Dump

"CHUNKY" (Bruno Mars),
Debuting #37 on Adult Contemp/R&B formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban formats 10/31/17;
via Atlantic.
[beginning w/ 148 + 164 Daily US Spins] – Has an old school 80’s R&B feel production, delivery, and subject wise. This is a serious throwback, this is a party song. Adult contemporary and R& B are definitely the correct places to ship this to. If this gets mains stream and midday spins it’ll be a game changer. But I expect this will get a lot of morning show and afternoon drive spins. It is a club record, but I don’t know if it fits in the modern club scene. It's repeat worthy and needs a video and everything.  It’ll be interesting see how this performs. Its definitely gone be at parties, its stepping and two-step music for sure, good old hard bottom music that’ll be around for a long time. He may have dropped an adult party classic.   Strong Bump

"BROKE" (Lecrae),
Shipped to Urban formats 10/27/17;
via Reach/Columbia.
[beginning w/ 232 Daily US Spins] – I can see this getting radio play and making a climb. It’s mixable, and it matches the pattern and tone of a lot of what’s out now.  I wouldn’t be shocked if this made its way into the club or mid-prime time radio slots because of its energy. – Weak Bump

"DAT SIDE" (CyHi The Prynce f/ Kanye West),
Shipped to Urban + Rhythmic/Club formats 11/01/17;
via GOOD Music/Ivy State/Sony.
[beginning w/ 158 + 108 Daily US Spins] – This has a good chance to get plenty radio play. It’s mixable, it sounds like what’s currently on the radio but it stands out rather than blend in. It’s heavy on bass, fits radio format and the assist from Kanye doesn’t hurt since he dropped a listenable verse; I could see it getting club spins also based on head nod factor and subject matter. – Weak Bump

"MINUTE"
(Nav f/ Metro Boomin, Playboi Carti, & Offset),
Shipped to Urban formats 10/28/17;
via XO/Republic.
[beginning w/ 138 Daily US Spins]  - It’s simple, repetitive, and predictable. It’s childish, it’s not very creative or original and it’s amateurish at best. Every part of it needs work, yet sadly it might get some radio spins, but I can’t see it at the top of the charts. – Strong Dump

"VICES" (Ludacris),
Shipped to Urban formats 11/06/17;
via D.T.P./Def Jam.
[beginning w/ 138 Daily US Spins]  - Ok I respect the concept, the lyrics and flow are quality, but it’s an album cut more so than a radio single in today's music industry. I’d be surprised to see this make a strong climb. I expect a bigger, harder hitting single from Luda  Weak Bump

"EX" (Ty Dolla $ign f/ YG),
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban formats 10/28/17;
via Atlantic.
[beginning w/ 133 Daily US Spins] – This has a chance to make a big impact, the beat is a tried and true hitmaker so the nostalgia alone may drive it. It grooves, it’s for the club and the car, should get a lot of mainstream primetime placements. – Weak Bump
