BUMP IT! or DUMP IT!, VOL. 63

Strong Bump – A hit. I really like it. Rewind worthy. Unquestionable Smash Hit. Extremely rewind-worthy and one of the better records out currently. Next to no flaws to pick out, something that you'll be supporting/playing daily. Something you predict will be a Top-15 Hit or higher.

Weak Bump – It’s listenable. Something you have to be in the mood to listen to. Not Bad. A Good Moderate Hit. Quality & above average; has more positives than negatives. Might need to grow on you/others, but could catch on. Not a clear smash hit, but something you'd genuinely want people to check out, so you’ll be supporting/playing it occasionally. Something you predict will be a Top-50 hit.

Weak Dump – Don’t really like it. Might like parts of it but not the whole composition. Could grow on you. Underwhelming. Sup-Par Record. Not bad, but definitely missing the mark somewhere. More negatives than positives. Listenable, as you might like some parts but not the whole composition. You don’t hate it and could understand it’s buzz, but you know you won’t be supporting/playing it much. Something you predict that won’t be on airwaves very long or have much replay value.

Strong Dump – Get rid of it. Absolutely don’t like it. Garbage. Hate It.
Complete Trash. A record you absolutely hate and has next to no positives at all. Garbage, and a waste of your time; that you’d want to warn people away from. Something that you’re sure you’ll never be supporting/playing ever; and predict that it’ll fail commercially.

Now for this week's singles.
Simple rules:
As we do every week, I'll give you the Top-9 new singles officially sent to Urban-format radio stations, that are either beginning to chart right now or expected to chart soon. In exchange, you can have & listen to them, and personally comment below, stating if you would *Bump It* or *Dump It* for each record and why... [Strong Bump, Weak Bump, Weak Dump, or Strong Dump]

"LOVE SCARS" (Trippie Redd),
Debuting #47 on Urban formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club formats 11/16/17;
via Strainge Ent/Caroline Dist.
[beginning w/ 502 + 76 Daily US Spins]. – Nah! It’s a lot of whining and off-key singing. _ Strong Dump

"PATEK WATER" (Future & Young Thug f/ Offset),
Debuting #48 on Urban formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club formats 11/20/17;
via 300/A1/Freebandz/Atlantic/Epic.
[beginning w/ 479 + 66 Daily US Spins]. – The beat is good, the flow and delivery give the illusion they’re rapping way better than they actually are. The lyrical content, originality, and creativity are missing. It’ll probably get some radio spins just based off of the people involved. I expect it to chart and be well received, but it’s basically high-end garbage. – Weak Dump

"NEW FREEZER" (Rich The Kid f/ Kendrick Lamar),
Shipped to Urban formats 11/21/17;
via QC Music/300/Interscope.
[beginning w/ 168 Daily US Spins]. – It’s extremely simple and repetitive. Even the Kendrick verse is less than stellar, but the name recognition alone may be enough star power for it to receive a few radio spins. I could see it playing in the club. It could go either way with radio, its sounds like much of what’s out so it’s mixable but the only thing that stands out is that Kendrick is on it. – Weak Bump

"LONELY TOGETHER" (Avicii f/ Rita Ora),
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club formats;
+ Pop formats 11/13/17;
via Avicii Music Inc./Universal.
[beginning w/ 167 Daily US Spins]. – Perfect for rhythmic and club formats. It’s kind of catchy and a little bit of a toe-tapper. I'd be shocked to see it crossover, it doesn’t seem to have that inescapable appeal. I can imagine it at the end of a tv show or movie. It may get to the middle of the charts – Weak Dump

"MOOD" (D.V.S.N.),
Debuting #35 on Adult Contemp/R&B formats;
via OVO/Warner Bros.
[beginning w/ 156 Daily US Spins]. – This is groovy and sexy. This will be on slow jam mixtapes for sure. Will definitely get the late night grove and quiet storm spins. Its good enough to possibly crossover and get some midday spins because it’s well done and mature. – Strong Bump

"LAST NIGHT" (Tru Life f/ Future),
Shipped to Urban formats;
+ Rhythmic/Club formats 11/14/17;
via Freebandz/Epic.
[beginning w/ 98 Daily US Spins]. – The collaboration seemed forced or for convenience. It’s a lot wrong with the song; the lack of cohesion between the artist is noticeable, it’s a style of music foreign to tru life, and I know Future is supposed to be the radio draw but he does the song a disservice with his lackluster verse. This sounds more like a mixtape song, but based on the production I could see it playing in the club. – Weak Dump

"SAY A" (A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie),
Shipped to Urban formats;
+ Rhythmic/Club formats 11/14/17;
via Highbridge/Atlantic.
[beginning w/ 64 Daily US Spins]. – It’s pretty good, the beat is radio friendly but unless he has a much cleaner version it is not gone fly. I dig the creativity and that it sounds different from anything that’s out currently. In this case sounding different actually hurts the recording, it’s not very mixable, and I’m not sure they would play this in the club. But I like it anyway, it’s just more of a mixtape song than radio single in today's market – Weak Bump

"WHAT IS THIS" (Johnny Gill),
Debuting #35 on Adult Contemp/R&B formats;
via J Skillz/Capitol/Caroline Dist.
[beginning w/ 60 Daily US Spins]. – I think it’s a bold choice to use the legendary Al Green sample, but it works well. The vocals performance is on point. I think this one will get plenty adult contemporary spins, but not a lot of spins everywhere else. I can see it getting early morning spins and definitely evening and late night spins, but I don’t think it gets the critical middle of the day spins to be able to chart high. But I like it – Strong Bump

"TEXTIN' MY EX"
(T-Pain f/ Tiffany Evans),
Shipped to Urban formats;
+ Rhythmic/Club formats 11/29/17;
via Nappy Boy/RCA. – This may catch on, I can see it getting radio play and club play. It’s singable, it has male and female parts, it’s relatable, it’s mixable with the current sound of r&b. I'm just not sure its good enough comeback single for T-Pain – Weak Bump
