Bump It or Dump It, 56

Strong Bump – A hit. I really like it. Rewind worthy. Unquestionable Smash Hit. Extremely rewind-worthy and one of the better records out currently. Next to no flaws to pick out, something that you'll be supporting/playing daily. Something you predict will be a Top-15 Hit or higher.

Weak Bump – It’s listenable. Something you have to be in the mood to listen to. Not Bad. A Good Moderate Hit. Quality & above average; has more positives than negatives. Might need to grow on you/others, but could catch on. Not a clear smash hit, but something you'd genuinely want people to check out, so you’ll be supporting/playing it occasionally. Something you predict will be a Top-50 hit.

Weak Dump – Don’t really like it. Might like parts of it but not the whole composition. Could grow on you. Underwhelming. Sup-Par Record. Not bad, but definitely missing the mark somewhere. More negatives than positives. Listenable, as you might like some parts but not the whole composition. You don’t hate it and could understand it’s buzz, but you know you won’t be supporting/playing it much. Something you predict that won’t be on airwaves very long or have much replay value.

Strong Dump – Get rid of it. Absolutely don’t like it. Garbage. Hate It.
Complete Trash. A record you absolutely hate and has next to no positives at all. Garbage, and a waste of your time; that you’d want to warn people away from. Something that you’re sure you’ll never be supporting/playing ever; and predict that it’ll fail commercially.

Simple rules:

As we do every week, I'll give you the Top-9 new singles officially sent to Urban-format radio stations, that are either beginning to chart right now or expected to chart soon. In exchange, you can have & listen to them, and personally comment below, stating if you would *Bump It* or *Dump It* for each record and why... [Strong Bump, Weak Bump, Weak Dump, or Strong Dump]

DUSK TILL DAWN" (Zayn f/ Sia),
Debuting #45 on Pop formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club & Urban formats 9/29/17;
via RCA Records
[beginning w/ 615 Daily US Spins]. – I can easily see this used on tv or in a movie because it's very dramatic sounding.  I honestly don’t  see it in the club, I can’t imagine trying to dance or vibe to it. I don’t see it as a radio hit either, it’s more of an album cut I suppose. I'm unsure when you would play this. Maybe should have picked another single. – Weak Dump

"MISS IT" (Yung Bleu),
Debuting #47 on Urban formats;
via B.A.M.S./Columbia
[beginning w/ 560 Daily US Spins]. – This one went downhill almost instantly. It's too unoriginal to stand out, it’s just like everything before it and it’s expected and predictable. It’s a typical trap and B ( trap and R&B combo) record; a heavy unoriginal reliance on autotune, a bass heavy track, and lyrical that are sung but delivered like a rap verse. The track could be better if the bass was turned down, it’s unnecessary to have that music bass, the piano lead was good enough. If the artist sang in a more distinctive way, instead of sounding like Future, and the lyrics could be written and delivered better. All in all the beat is the winner. I could see this playing on the radio or in the club; it’s simple, mixable, it can be sung along to, and most people only pay attention to hooks and punchlines so it’ll fly. – Weak Dump

"BETTER OFF ALONE" (Ayo & Teo),
Shipped to Urban & Rhythmic/Club formats 9/20/17;
via Zone 4/Columbia
[beginning w/ 193 Daily US Spins]. -  It’s too simple for me; think two levels above Kids Bop and one level above Kriss Kross. It lacks originality, complexity and doesn’t stand out. It relies too heavily on autotune. The beat is the winner and it’s what makes it accessible or tolerable. I can sadly see this being in the club or on the radio because of it’s mixable, simple to sing along to and the beat provides a convenient distraction. – Weak Dump

"INCAPABLE" (Keyshia Cole),
Currently #36 on Adult Contemp/R&B formats;
Shipped to Urban formats 9/20/17;
via Epic/Sony
[176 Daily US Spins]. – This is going to have a long fight for radio placement. It’s not bad, but not great, its very much middle of the road; both in terms of Keshia Cole’s previous works and what’s on the radio. It could stick around for a while but I don’t see it as a definitive smash hit. – Weak Bump

"MY DAWG" (Lil Baby),
Shipped to Urban formats 9/17/17;
via Quality Control/Caroline Dist.
[beginning w/ 173 Daily US Spins]. – Other than the beat this is a waste of studio time. It doesn’t sound professionally done, it sounds like a local or regional act. I expect that someone will do something with that beat and make the producer a star.  Strong Dump

"SONG GOES OFF" (Trey Songz),
Debuting #49 on Adult Contemp./R&B formats;
Shipped to Urban formats 9/27/17;
via Songbook/Atlantic
beginning w/ 102 Daily US Spins]. – I can definitely see this getting some radio play.  It has a distinct sound and doesn’t sound like anything else on the radio, so even as a change of pace it’s good for radio, but I’m not sure how much or high it will rise. It’s moderate but it’s not hit that Trey needs to get back to the top of the charts. You can listen to it, you can like it but it's not something you will have on constant repeat. – Weak Bump

"TERRIFIED" (Childish Gambino),
Shipped to Adult Contemp & Urban formats 9/28/17;
via Glassnote/Universal
[91 Daily US Spins]. – It’s different. It’s jamming, it has an old school feel and it’s seasonal. It’s perfectly mixable for a Halloween mix, it has a spooky airy sound. This is 50/50 it could rise rapidly, because it’s good, and it’s different, or it could be too different and never given a chance. I really like it and would recommend it, it stands out against what’s currently out. - Strong Bump

"WOOSAH" (Mike Classic),
Shipped to Urban formats 9/24/17;
via Bread Winners Inc.
[beginning w/ 87 Daily Spins].  -  This is kind of jamming. It’s in that  Hip-hop-n- B ( Hip Hop and R&B combo) vein ala Trey Songz or Chris Brown. Mike Classic actually sounds like Trey Songz a little bit on this one. The beat is good, the singing is good, the delivery is good. There’s not a lot to complain about, it just doesn’t have smash hit written all over it. – Weak Bump

"FRIENDS" (Hustle Gang),
Shipped to Urban formats 9/25/17;
via Grand Hustle/Warner Bros.
[beginning w/ 84 Daily US Spins]. – It’s a good song but I can’t really see it as a radio hit. I could see it as, mixtape, club and underground hit. Everything about it is pretty good but the hook is kind of unappealing, it’s easy to sing along but it doesn’t compel you to join along. – Weak Bump
