Bump It Or Dump It, 57

Weak Bump – It’s listenable. Something you have to be in the mood to listen to. Not Bad. A Good Moderate Hit. Quality & above average; has more positives than negatives. Might need to grow on you/others, but could catch on. Not a clear smash hit, but something you'd genuinely want people to check out, so you’ll be supporting/playing it occasionally. Something you predict will be a Top-50 hit.

Weak Dump – Don’t really like it. Might like parts of it but not the whole composition. Could grow on you. Underwhelming. Sup-Par Record. Not bad, but definitely missing the mark somewhere. More negatives than positives. Listenable, as you might like some parts but not the whole composition. You don’t hate it and could understand it’s buzz, but you know you won’t be supporting/playing it much. Something you predict that won’t be on airwaves very long or have much replay value.

Strong Dump – Get rid of it. Absolutely don’t like it. Garbage. Hate It.
Complete Trash. A record you absolutely hate and has next to no positives at all. Garbage, and a waste of your time; that you’d want to warn people away from. Something that you’re sure you’ll never be supporting/playing ever; and predict that it’ll fail commercially.

Simple rules:

As we do every week, I'll give you the Top-9 new singles officially sent to Urban-format radio stations, that are either beginning to chart right now or expected to chart soon. In exchange, you can have & listen to them, and personally comment below, stating if you would *Bump It* or *Dump It* for each record and why... [Strong Bump, Weak Bump, Weak Dump, or Strong Dump]

"HOW LONG" (Charlie Puth),
Debuting #44 on Pop formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban formats 10/5/17;
via Atlantic [beginning w/ 627 + 88 Daily US Spins].  – I dig this is kind of jamming. I feel like its too groovy for urban formats, it would have probably been smarter to send this Adult Contemporary. It’s too dance-oriented, but not necessarily turn up oriented, which is what popular radio kind of looks for and promotes, so it’s going to have an uphill climb for the crossover. But it’s repeat-worthy and feels good, so I can see this being played midday, early in the afternoon. It’s solid. – Weak Bump

"THE WAY LIFE GOES" (Lil Uzi Vert),
Debuting #49 on Urban formats;
+ Debuting #50 on Rhythmic/Club formats;
+ Shipped to Pop formats 10/4/17;
via GenNow/Atlantic [484 + 402 Daily US Spins]. – I can definitely see it playing on the radio, especially on rhythmic/club formats and pop formats. It’s different but somehow fits in with what’s going on at urban stations. The beat is both driving and slightly body rock worthy and annoying at the same time. Just for the fact that it stands out, I can see it getting some occasional burn and making a nice little climb. All in all, however, I dislike it more than I like it and probably wouldn’t listen to it or recommend it, but I don’t absolutely hate it. – Weak Dump

"GOOD OLD DAYS" (Macklemore f/ Kesha),
Debuting #46 on Pop formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban;
+ Adult Contemp./R&B formats 10/9/17;
via Bendo/ADA [beginning w/ 590 + 94 Daily US Spins]. – The production is alluring. This is a big tune. It has a lot of potential. It’s positive, it's soulful, its different in a good way, and it has that emotional tug. I expect to hear this heavy on television, and possibly in movies. It’s one of those songs that can set up or end a scene, think season finale or a montage for an award show. – Strong Bump

"SWAY" (NexXthursday f/ Quavo & Lil Yachty),
Currently #46 on Urban formats;
+ Shipped Rhythmic/Club formats 10/3/17;
via Quality Control/Capitol [565 Daily US Spins].  – The strong part of the recording is the production. The subject matter, lack of originality and delivery leave more to be desired. However it’s perfect for radio and the club, it's mixable, yet it stands out. This can go either way since there’s so much trap music out it could get easily get forgotten or shoot straight to the top. The winner here is definitely the producer and anyone that claims to only listen to the beat. – Weak Bump

"SILENCE" (Marshmello f/ Khalid),
Shipped to Pop + Rhythmic/Club formats 10/2/17;
via RCA Records [375 + 101 Daily US Spins].  – This has potential to crossover into urban markets. It’s definitely head nod worthy. It's feel good, positive and inspirational, and it has a victorious vibe in the production. Expect to hear this played at sports events, on tv, this will also be used for some montages. It’s a nice little tune. It can be played anytime of day, id suspect mostly mornings, it’s good inspiration, but I don’t expect it to take over radio or video. – Weak Bump

"MAKE 10" (LouGotCash),
Shipped to Urban + Rhythmic/Club formats 10/3/17;
via Gwinin Ent. [192 Daily US Spins]. – Ok, the production and the delivery are the selling points, even though the lyrics are simple and the subject matter and rhyme scheme are somewhat predictable, it sounds professional. It sounds like work was put into it. It stands out, it’s mixable; so it works any time of day and in the club. It’s kind of hot, listenable – Weak Bump

"ORGANIC" (Stokley),
Debuting #47 on Adult Contemp./R&B formats;
via Concord/Universal [70 Daily US Spins]. -  Definitely, something for older more traditional R&B fans to appreciate. You can play it anytime, but it’ll probably get its most burn late afternoon to evening to set up the late-night grooves. I don’t see it crossing over, it’ll probably stay in its lane. – Weak Bump

"REMEMBER U" (Melanie Fiona),
Currently #49 on Adult Contemp./R&B formats;
via Title 9 Prod./BMG [67 Daily US Spins]. – Strong production and strong performance. This may have a slight chance of some crossover. Id think any radio station that plays Jhene Aiko or Keisha Cole should look into introducing into their line up. It’s not a huge hit but, it will definitely be appreciated by traditional R&B format audiences. – Weak Bump

"MEAN DEMEANOR" (Run The Jewels),
Shipped to Urban formats 10/9/17;
via RTJ Inc./RED Dist. – A strong thumping production lead single. Since the beat seems to be the focal point and the delivery is a sped up flow, this has a major shot. This can fit in with a lot of what’s on the radio. It could even be played in the club. – Weak Bump
