Bump It or Dump it, Vol.59

Strong Bump – A hit. I really like it. Rewind worthy. Unquestionable Smash Hit. Extremely rewind-worthy and one of the better records out currently. Next to no flaws to pick out, something that you'll be supporting/playing daily. Something you predict will be a Top-15 Hit or higher.

Weak Bump – It’s listenable. Something you have to be in the mood to listen to. Not Bad. A Good Moderate Hit. Quality & above average; has more positives than negatives. Might need to grow on you/others, but could catch on. Not a clear smash hit, but something you'd genuinely want people to check out, so you’ll be supporting/playing it occasionally. Something you predict will be a Top-50 hit.

Weak Dump – Don’t really like it. Might like parts of it but not the whole composition. Could grow on you. Underwhelming. Sup-Par Record. Not bad, but definitely missing the mark somewhere. More negatives than positives. Listenable, as you might like some parts but not the whole composition. You don’t hate it and could understand it’s buzz, but you know you won’t be supporting/playing it much. Something you predict that won’t be on airwaves very long or have much replay value.

Strong Dump – Get rid of it. Absolutely don’t like it. Garbage. Hate It.
Complete Trash. A record you absolutely hate and has next to no positives at all. Garbage, and a waste of your time; that you’d want to warn people away from. Something that you’re sure you’ll never be supporting/playing ever; and predict that it’ll fail commercially.

Simple rules:

As we do every week, I'll give you the Top-9 new singles officially sent to Urban-format radio stations, that are either beginning to chart right now or expected to chart soon. In exchange, you can have & listen to them, and personally comment below, stating if you would *Bump It* or *Dump It* for each record and why... [Strong Bump, Weak Bump, Weak Dump, or Strong Dump]

"FAKING IT" (Calvin Harris f/ Kehlani & Lil Yachty),
Debuting #42 on Pop formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban formats 10/17/17;
via Fly Eye/Columbia.
[beginning w/ 791 + 482 Daily US Spins].  – This will definitely catch on. You’ll hear this in heavy rotation on radio and its perfect for the club too. It’s catchy, it has angry energy, and it had a danceable track. I’m not sure if it’ll be top of the charts but a respectable position is almost assured – Weak Bump

"NEW" (Daya),
Debuting #44 on Pop formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban formats 10/20/17;
via ArtBeatz/Sony.
[beginning w/ 467 Daily US Spins]. – Not sure why it was sent to urban formats, It’d fit better with pop formats. I’m not sure if it’ll crossover, however. It’ll definitely get play in rhythmic/ club. Its pretty decent, but nothing about makes me love it or hate it. It’s listenable, but not a must hear.  – Weak Dump

"REGGAETON LENTO RMX" (CNCO f/ Little Mix),
Debuting #49 on Pop formats;
Shipped to Rhythmic/Club + Urban formats 10/19/17;
via Sony Music Latin.
[beginning w/ 383 Daily US Spins]. – It has a crossover potential, it has more good parts than bad parts. I can see this on radio and in the club. I can see a few urban formats checking for it, but this definitely should have also been sent to pop formats. The hook is selling point, it has a predictable and simple pattern, it’s high energy and it’s easy to sing and dance along to. Weak Bump

"1942 FLOWS" (Meek Mill),
Shipped to Urban + Rhythmic/Club formats 10/22/17;
via Maybach/Atlantic.
[beginning w/ 296 + 76 Daily US Spins]. – It's pretty good, its one of the best songs on the album. Because it’s Meek, it may get some radio play, but it’s not really a typical radio formatted song, but that makes it stand out. It’s not really a club friendly recording, the hook is not very singable or easy to remember, but the flow and the break away from the standard 16 bars and hook are the selling point. – Weak Bump

"GUCCI GANG" (Lil Pump),
Shipped to Urban + Rhythmic/Club formats 10/19/17;
via The Lights Global/Warner Bros.
[beginning w/ 225 Daily US Spins]. -  Horrible. Its dumbed down, it’s simple, unorganized, random and not creative. This is a waste of studio time. The production is not bad, the lyrics or lack thereof, or even the attempt of was horrible.  – Strong Dump

"TODAY'S A GOOD DAY" (Hardo f/ Wiz Khalifa),
Shipped to Urban formats 10/13/17;
via Trap Illustrated/Sony.
[beginning w/ 97 Daily US Spins]. – Its kind of cliché, predictable, and underwhelming. It doesn’t really stand out or break any new ground, there are a bunch of songs just like it out so it’ll probably get lost in the shuffle. – Weak Dump

"ADD TO ME" (Ledisi),
Shipped to Adult Contemp/R&B formats 10/17/17;
via Verse/Universal.
[beginning w/ 59 Daily US Spins]. – The content is good, it’s mature subject matter and skillfully crafted, but the production leaves more to be desired. Should play well with adult contemporary but I’m not sure it’ll crossover to more popular formats. – Weak Bump

"ILL NANA" (DRAM f/ Trippie Redd),
Shipped to Urban + Rhythmic/Club formats 10/22/17;
via Atlantic/EMPIRE Dist.
[beginning w/ 57 Daily US Spins]. – Its weird, the production style is good for the club. I can’t see it crossing over real big, but its perfect for the club, it has a big sound, it’s a kind of fun record, and it fits in the modern trend. – Weak Bump

"DESERVE" (Kris Wu f/ Travis Scott),
Shipped to Urban + Rhythmic/Club formats 10/17/17;
via Ace Unit/J.C.G.K.
[beginning w/ 42 + 34 Daily US Spins].  – It’s a very similar sounding beat. It’s good for the club, I can’t see it crossing over real big, but it’ll get some mid-level spins. It has a full sound, the traditional layout of the song will help it get radio play also. It’s modern and trendy – Weak Bump

It‘s an average week for new singles, most have a chance to get some play but nothing that I think will completely take over the charts, our hearts, and minds for the next few months.
